Over the next several days I will be sharing a few election horaries with you. The first one comes from one of my students, an American citizen and Hillary Clinton supporter. She is the querent. Her question is, "Who will win the election?" October 20, 2016, 9:08 p.m. CDT in Montgomery, Alabama (Ascendant 22 Gemini).
This is a great horary to share because it's so clear and straightforward.
The querent is a Clinton supporter ("Will we win?"), so Mrs Clinton gets the first house and its ruler, Mercury. Mrs Clinton's opponent, Donald Trump, gets the seventh house and its ruler, Jupiter.
The Moon is the key to judgment in election contest questions, as it signifies the voters. If the Moon applies to aspect one of the two significators, that candidate wins. Here the Moon applies immediately to square Mr Trump's significator, Jupiter: Trump will win. And so he did!
The Moon exalts Jupiter. This makes sense, as the US voters are lifting Mr Trump into the Presidency, the highest office in the land. But while the positive reception is an added factor, it is not necessary for judgment.
My student wrote that she set this chart aside because it didn't tell her what she expected it to--a common pitfall when asking one's own questions. It's a good reminder that the astrology knows the reality of things better than we do!
