This is my own question. Trump’s threat to US democracy has been weighing heavily. He came within inches of a coup in 2020 with his multiple attempts to overturn the legitimate results of that
election. Everyone assumes Trump will be the GOP candidate for 2024, but we are still in the primary season. He isn’t the official GOP candidate yet. Nor is Biden the official Democratic
nominee.
For these reasons, I deemed it premature to treat this as an election horary.
The key to horary analysis is the correct identification of the significators. The heart of my question is whether Trump will retake the office of president. We need a planet to represent Trump
and a planet to represent the presidency.
I consider Trump to be Enemy #1. The house of open enemies is the seventh. The seventh is also the house of “someone else” in general. Trump is therefore signified by Mercury, ruler of Gemini on
the seventh house cusp. The presidency is signified by Venus, ruler of Libra on the tenth house cusp.
What first pops out to me is Mercury's condition. It is combust (within 8.5 degrees of the Sun). This by itself is a strong testimony for “No.” Mercury has no power to act in this situation.
That’s certainly not the impression Trump gives, but that’s what the chart says.
Next, let’s see if Mercury makes an aspect to Venus. Mercury appears to be applying to sextile Venus but several aspects happen first, acting as prohibitions. Looking ahead, Venus will enter
Libra before Mercury can perfect the sextile. We cannot bring Mercury and Venus together for a “Yes” answer, so the answer must be “No.”
I wondered if I should use the Moon for clues as to the flow of events here but decided against it. With so many factors in play (Trump's 91 felony counts and multiple lawsuits, for example) I
think it would be only speculation. We got our answer, and that is enough.
